Sam Shaw – Parent Message
Good evening and happy Sunday to our Sam Shaw families. We hope this finds you well on this nice winter weekend here in November. Hopefully everyone is able to enjoy these mild winter days.
We would like to thank the parents that were able to come out and participate in our Parent Council meeting this past week. As always, we come away with some new perspectives and action items. We thank parents for attending and for sharing their thoughts as it helps us try to do our best. Our takeaway this past council centered around two areas. The first area that we will try to improve upon is messaging from the school about events and activities. This includes better communication around Healthy Hunger and special events that we are planning. We will be sending out reminder emails on both moving forward. We know these aspects of school are important and want our students to be able to participate in them. The second aspect was around volunteers. We are continuing to look for ways to have parents and community members contribute in ways that support learning. We will be reaching out to the communications team within the CBE as we have some ideas.
Yesterday parents should have received an email to assist in the registering for Parent / Student / Teacher conferences that are happening this coming Thursday. As mentioned previously we want parents to know that these are not the only times to connect in regard to how your student is doing. We would also like to remind parents that they can be accessing student progress through Powerschool. Teachers keep these updated frequently and this is a great way for parents to know through time how their student is progressing. We would also encourage parents to be emailing teachers as well.
This past week we have put out a call to our families for lights. The Leadership students will be creating a winter festival of lights for the students in our gathering space. We thank those that have already donated. Our Leadership students will also be selling Hot Chocolate at lunch this week to raise funds for their “Adopt A Senior” connection they have made. It is exciting to see how our students are contributing to the community in such great ways.
Mrs. Jorgensen has asked us to send along this message:
