Important Dates

We follow the CBE Traditional Calendar. The calendar sets common start and end days, non-instructional days and holidays. For our school’s additional non-instructional days, late entries, early dismissal days and events, see our school calendar page.

The Alberta Government announced on July 21 that schools will be in Scenario 1 as of Sept. 1, 2020.

The CBE's 2020-21 re-entry plan is subject to change as more information becomes available from the province. We will continue to update schools with more details during the next school year.

You can find the COVID Self-Assessment Tool (daily checklist) in the Government Resources section on the CBE website.

Staggered Entry

We are beginning our school year by limiting the number of students entering the school over the first two days. The purpose of the plan is:

  • To welcome our students back and provide valuable time for relationship building in their classroom,
  • To ease the transition of all students into school,
  • To spend time with smaller groups familiarizing them with our health measures,
  • To facilitate physical distancing while teaching the protocols of our health measures,
  • To discuss the importance of wearing masks and proper hygiene and provide a mask for any students without one.

Staggered entry days are full days for Grades 1-4. Kindergarten will still attend half days. On Thursday September 3, regular attendance will resume for all students.

Teachers will be contacting you on Friday, Aug. 28 welcoming your children and providing you with information about who is in Group A and who is in Group B.

Yellow School Bus Transportation

Yellow school bus routes for the 2020-21 school year are created over the summer and based on the addresses submitted before the pre-registration deadline in May. While CBE Transportation continues to accept pre-registrations, these will not be considered until route changes are done after Thanksgiving.

COVID-19 Changes

  • Only registered students have bus route and stop information provided through MyCBE / PowerSchool; this is to control the number of students accessing a bus in order to support maintaining healthy distances
  • Only registered students should use transportation services
  • Students are assigned to one stop based on their primary home address for general transportation; alternate stops will not be available
  • Students will be assigned a seat by the driver; students must adhere to the seating plan
  • Students must complete the AHS health assessment every morning before leaving for the bus stop. Students or family members with COVID-19 symptoms must stay home.
  • Masks are mandatory for students K-12, including on school buses
  • All service providers will follow Alberta Education and Alberta Health COVID-19 guidelines
Please visit our Covid-19 Frequently Asked Questions page, Transportation Section for more information.
