Gr. 9 High School Transition
Dear Parents of Gr. 9 students:
At SPB we serve a wide catchment area. Our two school programs are designated to the following high school:
Spanish Bilingual – William Aberhart (WA) High School
English Community Program* - WA High School (students living in the designated catchment area only)
This year, WA is offering an evening Open House only (not a daytime student tour), on Wed. Nov. 28th. 6:30-8:30 pm It is intended for all parents and students designated to William Aberhart. Please see the link to their website and the Open House invitation. Students who are attending junior high at Senator Patrick Burns in the English Regular Program as an out-of-area student, are required to register at their designated high school, based on their address. Use "Find a School" on the CBE corporate website to learn about your designated or home school: cbe.ab.ca/schools/find-a-school/Pages/default.aspx. Or, view the websites of the high school you are interested in obtaining information for to determine Open House dates:

Every school may not offer all the program choices that your child wishes to pursue at their designated high school. To learn more about CBE high school programs, follow this link: https://www.cbe.ab.ca/programs/high-school. In such cases, there is a transfer protocol, which each CBE school adheres to. To learn more about transferring to a non-designated high school, see the following link, read p. 2, and complete the High School Transfer Form:

Ms. McTighe, Assistant Principal, will visit Gr. 9 homeroom classes in the upcoming weeks to provide each student with a hard copy "Ready-Set-Go" CBE high school cataolgue and answer student questions. Please contact Ms. McTighe (jlmctighe@cbe.ab.ca) or your child's classroom teacher, for more information about high school programming options in the CBE.
