Dear Simon Fraser Families,
We hope all our families enjoy the summer with your amazing children. We are also welcoming our incoming grade 5 families in this message! Welcome to Simon Fraser! The school office will be open again on Tuesday August 24. Until then, I will be checking emails periodically and will respond to any urgent matters. There are a couple of important updates we would like our families to be aware of for September.
Simon Fraser Meal Cards will be available for parents to purchase through their parent PowerSchool account online in September. A Meal Card needs to purchased by the end of each month for the next month (except for September) and each card is $75 with10 meals on each card. In order to prevent misplacing their meal cards, a Simon Fraser lanyard will be provided to each student with the first Meal Card purchased. The student name and homeroom will also be on the card. We will not be allowing students to use their cards to purchase meals for other students (exeption for siblings but they must be together for the purchase). Please preview the menu here Menu.pdf The current menu will change monthly and will be set for Monday through Thursday . Parents, students and staff can expect what will be provided. Stay tuned for more information in September. Cafeteria will start to service students and staff on Tuesday, September 7.
The school will be closed June 30 and reopen in late August. If you have any questions or concerns, please email the main office at firstname.lastname@example.org. Staff will be checking messages periodically throughout the summer.
The school office will re-open to the public on Tuesday, August 24. Students should be able to see their timetable in mid-August through their PowerSchool account. The school opening newsletter will be emailed to families and instructions will be included for timetable questions.
On July 16, CBE is moving to SchoolMessenger's Canadian server. For parents, all SMS messages will come from a new number; any parent who wants to be able to receive text messages must opt in at the new number, even if they have previously opted in. A text invitation will automatically be sent to all parent cell phones on July 16. CBE will let parents know that it's coming, that it isn't spam, and that it's important to opt in, even if the parents have done so in the past.
Please see the attached fees information for our grade 7-9 options. We want parents to have the most up to date information on fees for the option classes. Due to increases in cost for items like lumber and food, we have had to make slight adjustments. Feel free to reach out if you require more information.
