I would like to provide you with an update
to our staffing compliment at SVS for the upcoming 2019/2020 school year. We
will be reducing certified teachers by the equivalent of 3.4 positions and
support staff by 25 hrs per week.
This reduction in teacher positions will be
accommodated through the retirement of Ms. Ridley and Ms. Friesen at the end of
the 2019 school year. We wish them all
the best in the future and thank them for their dedicated service to the
students at SVS. Ms. Spraggins has
extended her leave and will return to a position within CBE at the conclusion
of the leave but not to SVS.
Irwin is a full time teacher who has been providing music and classroom support
at SVS for the past two years. I have
reduced this position from 1.0 to .6 FTE for the upcoming school year. Ms. Irwin will be leaving SVS to secure a
full time teaching position. We are
waiting to welcome a new part time staff member to provide .6 music instruction
for 2019/2020. Students will receive the
same amount of music instruction as they have in the past three years via this
.6 position. School wide celebrations,
performances will continue at SVS and will be determined once the new teacher
is in place.
Although these reductions are significant I
am confident that working together as staff, parents and students SVS will
continue to provide a safe and caring , rigorous and engaging academic/social
environment for our students.
