Hello SWL Students and Families,
It is hard to believe that we are already halfway through October, especially with all the glorious weather we have been having! It is so nice to see students out and about at lunch, enjoying time together outside.
We have had some changes to teacher staffing this month that impact students in grades 7, 8, & 9. I would like to congratulate Ms. Araki on her new position within the board supporting English Language Learners and to thank her for her tremendous contributions to improving student learning while at SWL. I know that she will be missed by both staff and students. In her place, I would like to welcome Ms. Smith who will be teaching Gr. 8&9 ELA and Gr. 6&8 PE.
Ms. Renner will be on a temporary leave as she awaits the arrival of her baby. I would like to welcome Ms. Randhawa who will be teaching Gr. 7 Humanities and Gr. 7 & 8 Art. I know in the coming weeks you will have opportunities to connect with both of these teachers and encourage you to reach out should you have any questions.
As a staff we are continuing to gather together to create and finalize our School Development Plan for the 2022-2023 school year. We look forward to sharing this with you when it is finalized.
Lastly, I would like to thank all of our coaches for their tireless commitment to provide rich extracurricular opportunities for our students. Thank you, Mr., Couper & Ms. Foster (cross-country), Ms. Love, Mr. Taylor, Ms. Hemsing, & Ms. Sharma (volleyball) and Mr. Sultan, Mr. Tackney, Ms. Wattamaniuk & Ms. Chan (soccer). A special thank you to Mr. Smith, our in-house photographer.
Take Care,
Ms Petroni
