Please visit our COVID-19 page for the most up-to-date information. Our plan is subject to change throughout the school year as more information becomes available.

One way parents/guardians can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on our school’s parent society. Under the School Act, a parent society is a formal group of parents, incorporated under the Societies Act for the purpose of raising funds for the school. A society is a separate legal entity from the school council. The school principal is not part of this group. More information can be found in our CBE Administrative Regulation 5001 – School Councils and School/Parent Societies.

Our Parent Society is known as the Sunalta School Parents Society

Sunalta School Parents Society, or “SSPS”, is a registered charity run by parent volunteers that raises money to fund enrichment for your children. The SSPS Board consists of a President, Treasurer and Secretary. Every parent or guardian of a student at Sunalta is automatically a member of the Sunalta School Council (SSC) and SSPS. SSPS uses the funds it raises to offer outstanding enrichment opportunities that our school is known for, beyond the base curriculum, such as: artists in residence, sport and outdoor education, technology, cultural and leadership opportunities. Every activity we sponsor meets the larger school vision, and depends on the resources and volunteer hours donated by our school parents.

Direct Donations to Our School

Our annual Direct Donation Campaign is in lieu of sending students home with the task of selling door-to-door, collecting money, and delivering goods. Please help us avoid the stress of these tasks by donating (our suggested amount this year is $90 per student or $200 per family), which will help us achieve our goals and support our students and faculty. SSPS now has a fundraising website! Please go to https://sunaltaparentssociety.com to donate today. All contributions are tax deductible. A letter will also be sent home with your student outlining our fundraising initiatives. Employer Match programs may apply. Other fundraising we support:

HEALTHY HUNGER PROGRAM: Healthy Hunger/Fun Lunch is on hold at this time due to Covid-19. We will update as changes occur.

CASINO: Volunteers Needed in 2021!

We have a casino tentatively scheduled Apr/May/June 2021. As you may know, we rely heavily on this important funding from AGLC by staffing volunteers for 2 days of casino activity. This is a great way to meet other parents and support our students. Most volunteer positions are easy to learn and include a meal, all the caffeine you can handle, snacks, taxi chits if needed, and some great company! This year the number of volunteers required has been cut in half, so approximately 22 volunteers will be needed. More details to come in early 2021.
