Provincial Achievement Test Results 2017-2018
We have received the individual school results from last June’s achievement tests in Grade 6 core subject areas, and are once again very proud of our results. We recognise that these tests are only one snapshot of the greater assessment picture. Results do change from year to year based on a number of factors, however, Sunalta’s achievement remains consistently high. Please understand that while this success is outstanding, each year, the results are based on a different group of students, under unique circumstances.
These results provide a benchmark from which Alberta Learning can make some generalizations about how well the mandated curriculum is being addressed across the province at the Grade 6 level. These test results are not intended to be used for student placement or promotion, teacher evaluation or for comparing schools. Each school sets their own context because of their unique circumstances. As well, the government recognizes that many important aspects of learning cannot be measured by one single paper and pencil test and that these tests should be set within a larger context. We do, however, look for trends that may inform our practice or suggest ways in which we may continue to improve.
Alberta Education expects 85% of the student population to achieve an acceptable standard and 15% to achieve a standard of excellence. Sunalta School has achieved the following results for the 2017-2018 school year.

*** All results are based on number of students writing the tests. Results do not include absent or excused students.
Our results continue to be very strong with very notable improvement in our standard of excellence scores which have improved dramatically from last year. The Grade 6 individual student profiles will be forwarded to their junior high school for distribution. If you wish further clarification please contact the school.
