Homework
We believe that homework is important for student learning. It is the quality, not the quantity, of homework that benefits student learning. Having a regular home reading schedule is a great way to engage your child in learning at home. Effective homework assignments need to be purposeful: “Legitimate purposes for homework include introducing new content, practicing a skill or process that students can do independently but not fluently, elaborating on information that has been addressed in class to deepen students’ knowledge and providing opportunities to explore topics of their own interest.” (Marzano and Pickering, Special Topic/The Case For and Against Homework, March 2007)
