Meet the Teacher

Teachers will be contacting families Friday, August 30 to welcome students to their classes. In lieu of the Meet the Teacher evening typically held in the first week, we are holding individual Parent Teacher Meetings on Thursday, September 19 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm and Friday, September 20 from 8:00am – 12:00pm.  These meetings will provide an opportunity for you to get to meet your child’s teacher, share important information about your child and learn about classroom routines and procedures. Due to the short time frame that the children will have been in school at that time, formal feedback on student learning will not be provided by the teacher.

Lunch Program

After a thoughtful examination of our lunch program, including factors such as the increasing number of children who stay for lunch, the dynamics of a busy lunch space and addressing the variety of needs of the children in that space, the staff has decided to split the lunch eating and play times. The Division One students (Grades 1 – 3) will eat first and then go out to play. The Division Two students (Grades 4 – 6) will play first then come in and eat. Our goal is to create a lunch space that is responsive and conducive to student needs.

12:00pm – 12:25pm Grades 1 - 3 eat

                Grades 4 - 6 play

12:25pm – 12:50pm Grades 1 - 3 play

                Grades 4 - 6 eat

On days we have Fun Lunch, all students will eat from 12:00pm – 12:25pm and play from 12:25pm – 12:50pm.

If you are interested in eating with or picking up your child at lunch, please inform the office or your child’s teacher in advance in order for our lunch supervisors to be able to accurately account for all registered children. We will have your child wait in the office for you to sign them out.

Due to the alternating noon hour play periods, children who go home for lunch are welcome to be at the school to play with their peers during the corresponding time periods. For example, with parent permission, Grades 4-6 children can stay to play from 12:00pm – 12:25pm and then go home for lunch; Grades 1-3 children are welcome to return to school from 12:25pm – 12:50pm to play. Supervision will be provided.

School Council AGM

Our School Council Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday, September 12 at 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Elections for a variety of positions will occur that evening. In addition, year-end annual and financial reports will be shared and a brief discussion regarding the year ahead will occur. If you are interested in contributing to the school community, learning about or serving on one of the executive or member roles, we encourage you to attend. The School Council is a great way to learn more about the school and support enrichment and enhancement opportunities. Everyone is welcome!

First Day Back

We will begin our day with a brief assembly in the Gym at 8:40am. Parents are welcome to attend and are invited to stay for conversation once their children have moved onto their classrooms.

Enjoy your long weekend! We are looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday!
