Our CBE Student Code of Conduct and CBE Progressive Student Discipline regulation apply to all of our students. They outline the roles and expectations for our students to promote positive and inclusive learning environments, help students to develop empathy and become good citizens both within and outside of the school community, and explain the consequences when a student’s disruptive behaviour negatively affects the learning environment.

Our CBE Employee Code of Conduct applies to all of our employees. The CBE maintains high standards for the conduct of its employees, and expects them to conduct themselves honestly and with integrity and exercise common sense, good judgement and discretion.

Code of Conduct

Behaviour Expectations

Our goal is to assist students to grow into caring, fulfilled and responsible adults. The school’s role is to assist students in making responsible choices and decisions. We encourage the development of self discipline and positive self-concept. Parents support involvement is vital.

Discipline begins in the home. The behaviours the student brings into the school come from the home first and then from their surrounding community as they grow and develop. While the students have a “right” to an education, that right comes with, and demands, certain responsibilities.

Discussions with students focus on the following:

  • Respect Self
  • Respect Others
  • Respect our Space

Student Role

  • Behave responsibly in and out of school
  • Be punctual and present for all classes unless ill or out for appointments
  • Assume ownership for one’s learning and behaviour
  • Move in a quiet and safe manner throughout the school
  • Accept responsibility for actions and for the consequences
  • Use thoughtful, polite language with peers and adults)
  • Consult adults when problems arise

Staff Role

  • Foster a caring, respectful, and stimulating learning environment
  • Model respectful behaviour
  • Participate in open, ongoing communication with the student and the student’s home
  • Provide opportunities for students to participate in decision-making and to assist them in learning strategies for conflict resolution
  • Be consistent and fair in dealing with all students

Parent Role

  • Encourage a supportive home environment that promotes positive attitudes toward learning
  • Be knowledgeable and supportive of the school’s position with respect to children’s behaviour expectations and problem solving
  • Participate in open, ongoing communication with your child and your child’s teacher
  • Model respectful behaviour
  • Ensure that children are properly rested, attend school and are punctual.
