Successful Start to the School Year

Thank you again for your support and encouragement as we had a successful start to our 2020-21 school year.  With all the uncertainty we have faced, we feel good about our first steps and are very happy to have a building that is busy with learning. We have 263 students currently enrolled at Thorncliffe School this year:  21 students are in Hub and 241 are learning in-school.  All are valued members of our school community!

September is a time to establish routines to address our new safety measures. Even though our school may not look and sound exactly like it did in the past years, our focus remains on success for every student each day. We are also striving to develop a sense of community. We will continue to engage students in Student Voice and choose a spirit day and a virtue for each month. We will also acknowledge Orange Shirt Day and participate in a Terry Fox run this month. The Terry Fox run will take place for each class of students during a regularly scheduled PE time during the week of September 28, 2020.

Teachers are eager to connect with each family through a telephone conference during the week of September 21, 2020. Please find each teacher’s email address on the website to connect with them throughout the year.

Staying safe requires a concentrated effort from all parties. If we all do our part, we will be able to continue excellence in teaching and learning at Thorncliffe School. Thank you to our staff, parents and students for your efforts, and welcome back to school!

Welcome back Thorncliffe Students! We hope you enjoyed winter break and your first day of online learning. January 8, is a PD day, so there will be no classes. We are excited to see students in person on January 11.

Students in the Grade 5 and 6 class are analyzing and finding patterns to start off their Patterns and Relations topic! https://t.co/ZkHhm2G1XZ

Our Grade 5 and 6 students created an encouragement and affirmation bulletin board for the students and staff. https://t.co/rvDg7keais

Our grade 1 & 2 Ss took on a leadership role and decorated the school tree. Was I ever surprised by their creativity! Who doesn’t love a giant peach as a tree topper? https://t.co/VcmGM1m22q
