Greetings

Hello Thorncliffe School students and parents/guardians.

I am excited and honored to be the new principal of Thorncliffe School. I am looking forward to immersing myself in the community, learning more about the rich history of the school, and collaborating with stakeholders.

My educational background includes B.A. (Psychology with a minor in Sociology), B. Ed. (Generalist),  and a M.Ed. (Educational Leadership). I have been an educator with the Calgary Board of Education for 18 years. I started my career at H.D. Cartwright as a Bridges teacher and then transitioned to T.B. Riley School to be a physical education teacher. Next, I became an AISI (Alberta Initiative for School Improvement) Learning Leader, which charged me with mentoring teachers on 21st Century Learning and establishing professional learning communities within schools. I then returned to teaching students at Ernest Morrow School where I was a physical education, grade 8, and a Risk and Resiliency learning leader. After several years at Ernest Morrow I secured an assistant principal position at Colonel Macleod School and remained there for fours years before joining Thorncliffe School.

My mantra is all students can achieve their optimal learning potential by supporting/strengthening students well-being for learning, implementing strong evidence-based pedagogy, personalizing student learning, and creating a welcoming, safe, and respectful learning environment for all.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact me.

Thank you.
