School Access

All doors to the school are locked. Front door access is available using the doorbell intercom system. Children arriving late enter by the front door. Parents are asked to enter and exit by the front door only and to report to the office once you have entered.

Using our Security System

Please push the button next to the intercom box and turn and face the camera. The door will be opened once you have been identified. Please let students know that if they are late or need to access the school during school hours they should come to the office door and follow the same procedure.

Playground Supervision

Teachers are on supervision 7:45 - 8:00 AM each morning. A teacher is also at the courtyard area from 2:30 - 2:40 PM to ensure that all students have been picked up or have made their way to the bus line ups.

Visitors & Volunteers Sign-In

All parents, visitors and volunteers must report directly to the office and receive a visitor card before proceeding to other areas of the school. This is an additional security measure to keep our school safe. Please note that, under no circumstances, can a visitor (including parents) go to the classrooms without checking-in to the office first.

Lockdowns

All CBE schools are required to practice lockdowns in the same way that we practice fire drills. The procedures for lockdowns are developed with the Calgary Police Service and are part of each school’s Emergency Response Plan. If you have questions about lockdown drills or lockdown procedures, please contact your principal.

Evacuation Procedures

In the event that the school needs to be evacuated for any reason, all staff have been trained according to CBE standards. All schools have a primary and a secondary evacuation site. In the event of an evacuation, you will receive an email, phone or SMS notification from the school.
