Welcome back and Happy New Year. As we return to online classes, the Minister of Education confirmed on Monday January 4, 2021 that it is expected that all K-12 Students will return to in–person learning on January 11, 2021. The exception are those students who are enrolled in the HUB or registered at an alternative online program. The Calgary Board of Education will continue to work with Alberta Education as we return to in - person teaching and learning. As we navigate the return to classes we ask that you continue to follow the processes outlined regarding reporting positive COVID – 19 cases. https://www.cbe.ab.ca/about-us/school-culture-and-environment/health-and-wellness-in-school/Pages/coronavirus.aspx
Return to School After International Travel
Students and families who have travelled outside Canada are legally required to follow all Provincial and Federal travel restrictions upon arrival.
If your family is participating in the International Border Testing Pilot Program, your child may not return to school until they have tested negative on a second test 6 or 7 days after your arrival.
If you are not enrolled in the pilot program, your child must:
Quarantine (isolate) for 14 days
Monitor for symptoms
Get tested if any symptoms develop and isolate for at least 10 additional days from the beginning of symptoms or until feeling well, whichever takes longer.
This means your child is unable to return to school for a minimum of 14 after your return.
Diploma Exams
Alberta Education has sent out notices to some students registered to write one or more diploma exams. Please know that exams are still optional and students may ignore these notices unless they are opting to write. It is very important that students do NOT delete their registration for the diploma exam as they must be registered in order to be exempt or to write.
Please note this is an evolving situation and subject to change. Be sure to check your email regularly for important information.
