Enrichment Opportunities

Western Canada seeks to extend learning in ways that are rich and diverse to allow students to have maximum opportunities for growth.  Our debate club recently returned from New Orleans where they competed with students from Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, Virginia, Texas and of course, Calgary.  These international competitions allow us to compete at a high level and push us to do better.

Our athletes have competed in volleyball at the University of Calgary Dino tournament and then at our own Red Mile Rumble, which saw teams from across Alberta and even British Columbia come.  We were excited to see our girls teams place in first and our boys team place in third at this year’s Red Mile Rumble.

As part of the long-standing partnership between the Western Canada High School Band Program and the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, we are incredibly fortunate to be hosting the CPO in performance on Thursday, October 3rd 2019. This promises to be an evening of incredible music and a great way for our band program to come together as a community to kick-off the fall! As a show of support for our Band Program and partnership, the CPO is donating the proceeds of all tickets sold to this event directly back to the Western Band Program. All proceeds generated will fund specialized instrumental education instruction through our clinic and workshop program. Every student in the band program will truly benefit directly this year from every dollar raised.  Tickets are being sold at the cost of $5.00 each and are available from the Western Band Program.
