One of the most important ways parents/guardians and community members can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on the school council. Under the Education Act, a school council is a collective association designed to advise the principal and the CBE Board of Trustees on matters related to the school. School councils have legislated advisory. They are different from Parent Societies & Associations, whose main function is to raise funds for the school. You can find more details in the CBE School Council Handbook.

Your School / Parent Council connects parents, teachers, and the community to facilitate and improve communication between home and school. We also work together to:

  • support every student's learning experience;
  • keep parents connected with school activities;
  • act as a sounding board for administration;
  • arrange Guest Speakers for parents;
  • represent WCHS at the CBE’s Council of School Councils (CoSC);
  • represent WCHS at the Alberta School Council’s Association (ASCA)..

Volunteers

Thank you all, we couldn't do it without your help!

Our volunteers support WCHS events, programs, and of course, your executive. Please fill out the WCHS Volunteer Interest Form and continue this typically Canadian tradition by contributing to our great community.

Many opportunities, like staff appreciation events do not require a police check. However, direct involvement with students does. Please visit the link below for more information.
