Parent Society

One way parents/guardians can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on our school’s parent society. Under the School Act, a parent society is a formal group of parents, incorporated under the Societies Act for the purpose of raising funds for the school. A society is a separate legal entity from the school council. The school principal is not part of this group. More information can be found in our CBE Administrative Regulation 5001 – School Councils and School/Parent Societies.

Our parent society is known as the William Reid School Fundraising Society.

WRSFS is a registered not-for-profit organization that raises funds through casinos, under the authority of the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission (AGLC), and the biennial Novemberfest fundraiser. These funds are then allocated to William Reid School for a variety of educational materials and activities as approved by the Society and AGLC. These critical funds enhance the learning environment by providing artist and athletes in residence, library books and much more.

Being part of WRSFS is as easy as attending a meeting. We also need willing participants to be part of the executive.

Meeting Dates/Schedule

Our William Reid School Council meetings and our William Reid School Fundraising Society meetings are almost always held on the same night, one right after the other. These meetings, which all parents/guardians are welcome to attend, take place on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM. Check our Calendar page for exact dates.
