Our Procedures for "Blue Days"
During the winter months cold temperatures, wind chill and snow can make getting to and from school challenging. On days of severe weather we have special procedures to ensure student safety. We call these “Blue Days”. We use the Weather Network as our source for cold weather information. When winter temperatures are colder then -20c (including wind chill) or it is raining heavily, we will follow Blue Day procedures:
- Doors to the school will be opened before the bell.
- Children will not be outside before or after school or during the day. Additional supervision is not provided, instead the regular supervision times are followed inside the school.
Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately every day. If the weather improves throughout the day we revert to our regular routines. Also, in the case of an emergency students may be required to go outside.
Children will remain outdoors in light rain. During heavy rain they will remain indoors.
Please ensure that your child is properly dressed for the weather.
