Happy October Abbeydale Families,
As we move into our second month of school, our students, staff and families continue to adjust to our school and the CBE re-entry guidelines. Thank you to those who support our new protocols and safety guidelines. We would like to welcome to our staff: Andra Slavik, Kindergarten and music teacher, in for Mrs. Giard who will be returning in early November. We are excited that this year we will have two learning leaders, Shazia Rajan-Qamberi and Denall Evans. Our learning leaders will work alongside all teachers and our administration in supporting students and staff through strategies developed within our School Development plan.
Thank you to all of our families that were able to connect with their child’s teacher over our Meet the Teacher/Parent-Teacher Conferences. We recognize that phone interviews were out of the norm, but feel the response of parents and staff was positive all around. If you were not able to connect with your child’s teacher, please write a note in your child’s agenda to set up a time that you are available by phone. Ms. Slavik will be in touch with the Kindergarten parents who requested a phone interview when she returns.
As we begin to move into October the weather is definitely changing and there is a strong chill in the air. As you are aware, the students at Abbeydale School will be spending time during their day and their physical education periods outside this year. It is imperative that all students come dressed and prepared to be outside. We are suggesting that children dress in layers, so that they can be warm in the morning and peel off the extra layers as needed during the day.
At this time, we would like to make families aware of the CBE Student Code of Conduct. Please read through the attached and share the information with your child in a way that you deem appropriate for their age. A modified version of the student code of conduct can also be found in your child’s agenda.
We would also like to remind families that all children are required to have masks at our school because in most classrooms we are unable to ensure physical distance of six feet. Thank you to all the parents for ensuring your child(ren) has 2 clean masks at school each day. We appreciate your continued support. We have also noticed that masks are often getting wet so having an extra one available to use is a great idea.
