Getting Students to School

You can register your child for yellow school bus transportation online using your MyCBE/PowerSchool or by completing a transportation registration form. Register every school year.

Please visit the CBE website to find more information on fees and service levels for the 2021-22 school year.

To be included in the yellow school bus route planning for September, parents must register by the June 6, 2021 deadline. The more registrations we receive by the deadline, the more efficient route planning will be for September. Transportation continues to accept registrations after the deadline, and students are added to the closest existing stop with space, within the distance guideline. Processing times could be up to 6 weeks at the beginning of the school year due to volume.

Yellow school bus registrations can be cancelled by Sept. 30 with no financial penalty. Cancellation forms must be completed before a pro-rated refund can be considered. No refunds will be processed for service cancelled after April 30 or for individual trip delays.

Parents/guardians whose children access yellow bus service can view the status of their bus using the MyBusStop App or on My School Bus Monitor.

Visit CBE Transportation for forms and more information.

Conditional Riders

Students who are not attending the designated school for their program, or who are not within the transportation service area, may be able to access existing service if there is a suitable stop on the existing bus route. Fees will not be waived for conditional riders.

Criteria for conditional riders:

  • Must access an existing stop

  • Must be room on the bus

  • Must pay the transportation fee

  • No additional bus routes will be implemented to accommodate conditional riders

  • Must wait for written approval from Transportation Services before starting to ride the bus

Conditional riders are not permitted to ride the bus until it is determined there is space on the bus and riders have been approved by Transportation Services.

Visit CBE Transportation for forms and more information.

Busing

Bus Maps

Bus maps are available in the school office during the current school year. They are available in the lobby at the beginning of next school year at the end of August as well as on the Acadia School website. Bus routes can change year to year.

Busing Routine

In order to have a smoothly operating bus system and to promote safety, we ask students and parents to observe the following routines:

  1. Students are expected to ride their designated bus.
  2. Parents must inform the school by note or phone call if they are planning to pick up their child/ren.
  3. After dismissal, students are to go directly to their bus.
  4. Bus drivers will make a seating plan where students are expected to sit.
  5. Once the students get on the bus, they must stay in their assigned seat. They are not allowed to get off the bus to run back into the school because they have forgotten something unless given permission by a bus supervisor.
  6. Parents are asked to use the crosswalk when they pick up their child/ren. Please do not cross directly in front of the buses or between the busses.
  7. If students miss the bus, they will be asked to phone their parents to come and pick them up. Please note that the school office closes at 3:30 PM.
  8. Drivers must keep to their schedule. Please teach your child/ren the importance of punctuality. Help your child to be early for the bus. Students are permitted to get on or off the bus only at their designated stops.
  9. Bused students are not permitted to walk home from the school under any circumstances.
  10. Parents are requested to have an alternate base for their child/ren to go to if they miss the bus, or if the bus is late (i.e. during bad weather). The phone number of the ALTERNATE should be provided to the bus company along with the usual phone numbers of the parents’ home and office.
  11. www.myschoolbusmonitor.ca is a website to check for late/delayed bus information.
