Learning Support Centre
The Learning Support Centre (LSC) provides academic support for identified students for a variety of reasons. Referrals to the “Power Up for Learning” class are made by teachers in consultation with parents. Space is limited and student enrolment is determined on an individual basis.
It is the responsibility of each student to keep lock combinations confidential and to keep lockers locked. The school cannot assume responsibility for missing items. It is recommended that all items have the owner’s name on them, and that valuable items NOT be brought to school.
The Learning Support Centre is accessed on an as-needed basis. Students access the LSC during their regular core class time to receive support as determined by their teacher. Students may go to the LSC for part of a class period (e.g. to write a test or to catch up on a missed assignment), or for a longer period of time, such as for a unit or even a semester, if the teacher determines that level of support is needed. Access to LSC for a class period is arranged by the teacher in communication with LSC staff (provided space is available). Longer term access must be arranged through the Student Services Counsellor, with parental support.
