Festival Day
Recently AFS spent a day recognising the variety of festivals that our students celebrate each year. Students and teachers shared their traditions and enjoyed learning more about our school community members. We are thankful for this opportunity to learn more about each other.

Canada 150 celebration
Our Canada 150 celebration was a huge success! Students loved performing folk style music for their families and the community. They enjoyed various creative elements like singing with whole group involvement, singing in two parts, playing various musical instruments, and performing actions and choreography of songs. Students loved that they were able to incorporate humor and make the audience laugh while entertaining them with a variety of instruments, lively music and actions.
The performance celebrated Canada’s geography and development from coast to coast. Some topics included the history of the Acadians, the First Nations People, building the railroad, settlement, and respecting and acknowledging the land. The student learning also included a Ted Harrison inspired mural for each province and area that was created by each class. These large murals also supported the ambiance for the celebration and showcased further student work and evidence of teamwork. A huge thanks to Ms. Lietz for all of her work on this performance.
