Digital Citizenship

Students are provided with Digital Citizenship instruction and the safe use of electronic resources. At school, students work in a filtered environment where access to internet content is monitored.

Students are accountable for their behaviour and communication conducted electronically. Instant Messaging, email and Social Networking sites (Facebook), when used inappropriately can negatively impact the learning environment at school regardless of where the communication originated.

Students bringing their own devices to school are reminded to adhere to the expectations that games, music and other forms of media representation should be appropriate for an elementary setting from K to Grade 6. Media that is violent or has actions we would not strive to emulate are not appropriate in this setting.

Teachers and staff ensure that students understand their roles and responsibilities when using digitally networked resources and share in the supervision of all students while online (e.g. – students who are working within their classroom learning environment on networked computers).

Our Digital Citizenship Plan
