| Thank you to the thoughtful parents on the staff appreciation committee for the lovely Easter goodie baskets. It was a wonderful little treat that
made our day. Your kindness is greatly appreciated. o Thank you to the many parent volunteers we have had at our
school recently. It is wonderful to have parents back in the school
helping in the classrooms and on field trips. We couldn’t do it
without you!

| Dear Andrew Sibbald Families, First of all, we want to make sure that all of our Andrew Sibbald Families are
aware that the government has extended the winter break for students. This
means, there is no school for students during the week of Jan 3-7. Staff
will mainly be working from home during this week preparing for the weeks to
come. There will be administrative staff working in the office on Tuesday –
Friday. We do not know for sure what learning will look like beginning on
January 10 or what new measures may be in place, but we will continue to be
resilient and ready for whatever decisions the government makes in the
coming week.
As we say goodbye to 2021 and welcome a new year, we want to thank all of
our Andrew Sibbald Families for being on this journey with us. It has been an
interesting year with many challenges, but with many highlights as well. We
are grateful to be part of such a caring community that has been patient and
supportive as we have worked hard to ensure that students are in the best
learning environment possible given the factors that we are able to control.
We appreciate the kindness and generosity that our school community
continues to be filled with. Thank you for helping to make Andrew Sibbald
School such a great place to work and learn! We hope that you and your family had a wonderful winter break and that you
were able to find joy and a deep connection with those around you. We
wish you all the best for 2022! Together, we can accomplish great things!

| On behalf of all staff at Andrew Sibbald School, we wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday. |
| We hope that all of our Andrew Sibbald families
have a wonderful Thanksgiving. We hope you are able to take time to
reflect on what you are thankful for. At Andrew Sibbald, we are so thankful
to be part of such an amazing community. We have incredible students,
parents and staff who work hard to create a supportive and caring learning
community. Thank you to all of you!

| Welcome to the 2021-2022 School year at Andrew Sibbald. It is so fabulous
to have our school community back together again. We currently have 427
students which is an increase of almost 50 students from what we had
registered at this time last year. Please join me in helping our many new
families feel welcome as they become part of our Andrew Sibbald School
community. We want to take this opportunity to thank a few people who help to make
Andrew Sibbald School an amazing place to be. Thank you first of all to the
amazing staff who have worked so hard to get the school ready for learning.
Teachers have been busy getting classrooms ready and planning engaging
learning opportunities. A special thank you to our admin assistant, Mrs. Lori
Pulfer, for all of her work getting students registered and keeping us all
organized. A big thank you also to Ms. Shawna Davis, our facility operator
who has worked hard to ensure the building was clean and shiny. And finally,
a big thank you to all of the Andrew Sibbald staff, students and parents for
helping to create such a warm, welcoming, wonderful community school. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our
admin team, Kirk Newman or Kim Manser. We all want the very best for your
child. Our Sibbald staff will do everything we can to support them and make
this a great year of learning. Sincerely, Kim Manser, Principal & Kirk Newman, Assistant Principal

| Dear Andrew Sibbald Families, As this school year comes to an end, I want to let each of you know how
much we, at Andrew Sibbald, have enjoyed being a part of your child’s
educational journey this year. It has been a year like no other! There have
been many highlights and incredible learning opportunities as well as some
definite challenges. We have missed not being able to connect in the same
way and interact with those outside of our cohorts. Through it all, our
students have been incredible. They have been resilient and have learned to
persevere through challenges. We couldn’t have done it without the
incredible support of all of you. We want to thank you for being our partners
in your child’s education and helping to make this a great year of learning! At the end of August, you will receive an email from the school letting you
know about our re-entry plan as well as who your child’s teacher is. We will
also let you know at that time if there will be an opportunity for our usual
Open House prior to the first day of school. If so, it will be on August 31. On behalf of all of the Andrew Sibbald Staff, we hope you have a safe and
fun-filled summer doing lots of whatever makes you and your family
happiest! The first day back for the 2021-2022 school year is September 1,
2021.
Have a great Summer! Kim Manser

| Across Canada, the month of June is recognized as Indigenous History Month – a time to recognize the contributions, history, and diversity of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples in Canada while acknowledging the incredible strength, vibrancy, and knowledge that lives in Indigenous communities and community members. Canada also recognizes June 21st specifically to be National Indigenous Peoples Day – a day for all peoples in Canada to celebrate and honour Indigenous Peoples. This day was symbolically chosen to land on or near the summer solstice because of the solstice’s significance to many Indigenous peoples. More locally, Aboriginal Awareness Week is celebrated here in Calgary from June 21st – 25th, with events being led by the AAWC (Aboriginal Awareness Week Calgary).

| Thank you to our Andrew Sibbald Community for
making the shift to online learning as successful as possible. We know that
this creates a significant challenge for some families. We appreciate that
families are doing the best that they can given the circumstances they are
in. We do not want to add any additional stress to families. If there is
anything that we can do to make Online Learning easier, please let us
know. We are hopeful that we will be back to in-person learning again
soon. In the meantime, we hope everyone stays healthy. We look forward
to seeing students online when they are able to make it. |
| The
Alberta government has mailed a link to this survey to all grade 4 parents.
This survey provides the school with valuable feedback about how parents feel
we are doing. Please let us know if you would prefer a paper copy of this
survey or if you would prefer it to be sent in a different language. All grade
4 parents are encouraged to complete this. If you have any questions about the
survey or about what is happening at your child’s school, please don’t hesitate
to contact either Kim Manser or Kirk Newman at the school. In regards to the survey, an "I don't know" response counts as a negative or disagree in the survey. Therefore if a question is not applicable, we would invite you to leave it blank or contact us for more information on the topic.
The last day for
survey submissions is April 23. Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete this survey. your feedback in important to us. |
