One of the most important ways parents/guardians and community members can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on the school council. Under the Education Act, a school council is a collective association designed to advise the principal and the CBE Board of Trustees on matters related to the school. School councils have legislated advisory. They are different from Parent Societies & Associations, whose main function is to raise funds for the school. You can find more details in the CBE School Council Handbook.

School Council

Parent involvement at Andrew Sibbald School is highly valued. School Council provides opportunities for parents to make a difference at our school.

School Council works in collaboration with the principal to help foster a supportive learning environment and create valuable learning opportunities for students. All parents/guardians of children who attend Andrew Sibbald School are members of Andrew Sibbald School Council. All parents/guardians are invited to attend monthly meetings to ask questions and to ensure your voice is heard. Meeting dates are published in the school newsletter and posted on the parent board at the front of the school.

Meeting Dates/Schedule

School Council meetings are held in the school library on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM.
