Contacting Your Child at School

In order to sustain the message that obtaining an education is valuable, we ask that you not call or text your child during school hours. Contacting your child not only interferes with their learning but potentially the learning of other students. Calling a classroom to leave a message for a particular student interrupts all students learning. Parents/Guardians are welcome to leave a message for your child with the office staff. The names of students with messages will be announced before the lunch and end-of-day bells.

Emergency situations (e.g. accident or death in the family) are handled differently. If there is an emergency which requires that you speak with your child on the phone immediately, we ask that you share the emergency with us so that we can better support your child as they receive the information. Please know that having to pick up a sibling after school is not considered an emergency. In these cases we will happily pass on the message to your child at the next break.

Contact Information Updates

Please notify the school office immediately with any changes of address, telephone numbers (home, business and/or cell), email address or emergency contact numbers. It is critical that we have a current record of contact information on file so we can reach you or other emergency contacts. Please also be sure to provide us with a current copy of any custody agreements.

Concerns & Complaints

We know that the success of your student is dependent on a strong partnership between families and the CBE. If you have a concern, it can usually be addressed at the classroom level. Your first step is to arrange to speak privately with your child’s teacher. If you feel your issue is still unresolved, please contact your principal. If you and the school are unable to find a resolution, please see our Concerns & Complaints page for additional information, including the process to contact your Area Director.
