Important Dates

We follow the CBE Traditional Calendar. The calendar sets common start and end days, non-instructional days and holidays. For our school’s additional non-instructional days, late entries, early dismissal days and events, see our school calendar page.

The Alberta Government announced on July 21 that schools will be in Scenario 1 as of Sept. 1, 2020.

The CBE's 2020-21 re-entry plan is subject to change as more information becomes available from the province. We will continue to update schools with more details during the next school year.

You can find the COVID Self-Assessment Tool (daily checklist) in the Government Resources section on the CBE website.

Assigned Teachers

Students will meet their teacher on the first day of school.

Staggered Start to School Year

We are beginning our school year by limiting the number of students entering the school over the first two days. The purpose of the plan is:

  • To ease the transition of students into school,
  • To spend time with smaller groups familiarizing them with our health measures,
  • To facilitate physical distancing while teaching the protocols of our health measures.

Because of bussing, staggered entry days are full day.

Grade 1-4

  • Tuesday Sept. 1: Students with last name A-L ONLY will attend.
  • Wednesday Sept. 2: Students with last name M-Z ONLY will attend.
  • Thursday Sept. 3: ALL students attend 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 PM.
  • Friday Sept, 4: ALL students attend 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 PM.

Kindergarten families have previously received staggered entry plan and information. Please refer to the document you received last spring.

All students are required to have a back pack and lunch bag (if applicable). Indoor running shoes are brought to school the first day and left at school. Many backpacks and shoes look alike; please completely label all student items.  Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, parents are welcome to send individual student supplies in a pencil box.  Individual supplies should be clearly marked and will not be shared.

School Calendar

We are a school that follows the traditional calendar. To view our school’s calendar, click here.

School Parking Lot

Please note that the parking lot is not available for visitor/volunteer parking. We ask that you refrain from parking in the parking lot. The parking lot is only accessible to CBE employees as staff members pay for the privilege of accessing assigned parking, and they arrive at various times throughout the day. For safety reasons, DO NOT use the parking lot to drop-off or pick-up children.

Parent Parking & Student Drop-Off

The front of the school (Auburn Bay Avenue) is for bus drop off and student drop off & pick up only.  These areas are clearly marked as NO PARKING.  There is no  parking at all in front of the school.  Should you wish to park and walk your child to their door, please find a parking spot away from the front of the school & away from the school parking lot.

Noon Supervision

Auburn Bay School offers a four-day (Monday – Thursday) noon supervision program for students in Grades 1-4. Students bring their own lunches and are supervised both while they eat lunch and while they play outside. No microwave or hot water services are available.  Registration and fee payment for this program is required. Noon Supervision begins on the first day of school.  Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic the milk program cannot be offered.

Registration Information

Please visit our How to Register page for all registration details and registration forms.

Our school office opens on Thursday, Aug. 27 for new student registration. Office hours are  9:00 – 3:00.  New students to Auburn Bay may be overflowed if the school is full.  Students residing in Auburn Bay and Seton are to register at Auburn Bay School and from there will be designated to our over-flow school Andrew Sibbald if necessary.  Click here for additional information.

Yellow School Bus Transportation

Yellow school bus routes for the 2020-21 school year are created over the summer and based on the addresses submitted before the pre-registration deadline in May. While CBE Transportation continues to accept pre-registrations, these will not be considered until route changes are done after Thanksgiving.

COVID-19 Changes

  • Riding the Bus Flowchart and Checklist
  • Only registered students have bus route and stop information provided through MyCBE / PowerSchool; this is to control the number of students accessing a bus in order to support maintaining healthy distances
  • Only registered students should use transportation services
  • Students are assigned to one stop based on their primary home address for general transportation; alternate stops will not be available
  • Students will be assigned a seat by the driver; students must adhere to the seating plan
  • Students must complete the AHS health assessment every morning before leaving for the bus stop. Students or family members with COVID-19 symptoms must stay home.
  • Masks are mandatory for students K-12, including on school buses
  • All service providers will follow Alberta Education and Alberta Health COVID-19 guidelines
Please visit our Covid-19 Frequently Asked Questions page, Transportation Section for more information.

More information about 2020-21 transportation service levels and proposed fees are posted on the CBE website.

Conditional riders can also register using MyCBE / PowerSchool. Applications will be considered after eligible riders registrations have been processed.
