Please visit our COVID-19 page for the most up-to-date information. Our plan is subject to change throughout the school year as more information becomes available.

The Calgary Board of Education provides students with the option to stay at school for lunch. Noon Supervision is offered to all students in Grades 1- 6 and in our full-day kindergarten programs for an annual fee. Students in these grades require direct supervision during the lunch hour, regardless of the grade configuration of the school or the mode of transportation the students use to get to and from school each day.

Principals have the flexibility to make school-based decisions for their noon supervision programs.

You can expect the following for your noon supervision fees:

  • A safe and caring environment for students to eat lunch.
  • Supervision for the entire noon lunch period, unless the student is signed out by a parent/guardian.
  • Daily attendance will be taken.
  • Students must remain on school grounds, unless written permission has been provided to the school by a parent/guardian.
  • A dedicated space for eating.
  • Only students that have registered and paid the noon supervision fee can access the service:
  • The CBE has a waiver process for families who can’t afford to pay the fees.
    • Note | Use of service indicates that the Parent/Guardian accepts the terms and the responsibility to pay the annual fee.
    • Income tax receipts are issued for noon supervision fees that may be included as child care expenses for income tax purposes.
  • Noon supervision fees are directed to providing lunchroom supervisors.

What noon service is not:

  • Guaranteed access to a table and chair or an assigned seat.
  • Access to food or snacks; students are required to bring a lunch.
  • Access to a microwave, hot water, dishes, utensils or other cooking facilities.
You can register and pay online with MyCBE / PowerSchool.

Noon Supervision

Auburn Bay School offers a four-day (Monday – Thursday) noon supervision program for students in Grades 1-4. Noon Supervision begins on the first day of school. Students bring their own lunches and are supervised both while they eat lunch and while they play outside. No microwave or hot water services are available.

Staying at school for lunch provides students the opportunity to practice social skills and peer interactions.  All students have a scheduled inside eating time and a scheduled outside play time, with caring adult supervisors both inside and out.  Our lunch program runs from Monday-Thursday for students in Grades 1-4.  There is no noon supervision provided on when there is an early dismissal on a Thursday.

All students attending the lunch program are required to register and pay the Noon Supervision fee by September 30.

There is also an Optional Activity fee for students who stay for lunch. This yearly optional fee of $10.00 has been added to your My CBE Account.  This fee covers items such as playground equipment for the students to use during the lunchtime supervision.

Milk Program – This is an optional program that runs in out lunch program.  A family can choose to have register and pay for the milk program, and their child will be provided with milk at lunch.  More information can be found in your child’s opening package.  The milk program will start on October 1.  Forms will be sent home in September.

Changes to My CBE Account

Over the summer, changes will be made to My CBE Account, the online parent account that allows families to pay fees or apply for a waiver, register for transportation and noon supervision, as well as view student progress.

Families will need to set-up new accounts to continue to do online transactions. To create a new account families will need to have their child’s CBE Student ID Number. Watch our website in August for more information about the transition.

Fees and Waivers

School fees will be charged to families after the start of the school year in September and October. Online fee payment is the simplest and most convenient way to pay school fees. Parents can use their online account to pay fees or apply for a waiver at: www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe.

There are a number of different ways you are able to pay school fees, including: online using VISA, MasterCard, VISA Debit or Interac Online; in-person at schools; or by sending in a cheque to the school or CBE.

You can find more information on the CBE school fees and waivers page.
