Important Dates

We follow the CBE traditional calendar. The calendar sets common start and end days, non-instructional days and holidays. For our school’s additional non-instructional days, late entries, early dismissal days and events, see our school calendar page.​

The Calgary Board of Education continues to plan for the health measures that may be in place for the next school year. More details will be shared with families before the first day of classes.

Back to School Information

First Day of Classes: Grades 1 to 5

Our first day of classes is Wednesday, September 1, 2021 and our school office is open to parents on Friday, August 27, 2021.  

Please meet your teacher at your specified classroom meeting place. This will be shared with you in the teacher introductory email sent to you the evening of Monday, August 30, 2021.

First Day of Classes: Kindergarten

Kindergarten classes begin on September 1, 2021.  Students attend based on their Morning (AM) or Afternoon (PM) class designation. 

Please meet your teacher at your specified classroom meeting place. This will be shared with you in the teacher introductory email sent to you the evening of Monday, August 30, 2021.

Wednesday, September 1, 2021 and Thursday, September 2, 2021 are regular school days with AM and PM classes attending at their usual times.  Friday September 3, 2021 is designated as an AM Kindergarten day.  Morning Kindergarten students attend from 7:58 am to 12:00 pm.  The following Friday, September 10, 2021 is designated as a PM Kindergarten day.  Afternoon Kindergarten students attend from 7:58 am to 12:00 pm on this day.  For Kindergarten, Fridays (excluding non-instructional days) alternate between AM and PM classes throughout the year.

School Supplies

Students should come to school with indoor shoes (suitable for Physical Education activities) which they can put on and fasten themselves, a backpack, snack/lunch kit and water bottle.

General school supplies will be provided to students at school.

Noon Supervision

Banff Trail School operates a four day noon supervision program (Grades 1 – 5). We also intend to offer an optional Milk Program.  For more information visit our Noon Supervision page.

​​Do You Have a MyCBE / PowerSchool Parent Account?

Parents who have not already done so, must create an account in MyCBE / PowerSchool to:

  • Pay fees or apply for a waiver

  • Register for transportation and lunch supervision

  • View student progress

To create a new account, go to and click on Create Parent Account. You will need to have your child(ren)’s CBE Student ID Number and use your email on file at the school.​

School fees will be charged to families starting in October. Online fee payment is the simplest and most convenient way to pay school fees. Parents can use their online account to pay fees or apply for a waiver at:

​​Yellow School Bus Tra​nsportation

Yellow school bus routes for the 2021-22 school year are created o​ver the summer and based on the addresses submitted before the pre-registration deadline in June. Transportation continues to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing stop with available space. Processing times could be up to six weeks at the beginning of the school year due to volume.

Your bus stop location and time will be available in your MyCBE / PowerSchool account by mid-August.

Conditional riders can also register using MyCBE / PowerSchool. Applications will be considered after eligible riders registrations have been processed.
