Lates and Absences
Occasionally, students are late for school for planned or unintended reasons. It is very important that students, as much as possible, maintain punctual attendance habits. These positive habits will serve them well throughout their lives. We expect that students attend school every day unless they are sick or have appointments that cannot be scheduled outside school time.
If your child will not be at school, please phone the office at the number above and leave a message on the absence line. If you forget to call the school to report your child’s absence and we have not heard from you, the school will attempt to reach you via our automated calling system. Attempting to contact parents is time consuming for the office staff so your efforts to phone the day before, or morning of, an absence is important. The Alberta School Act provides guidance that indicates parents are responsible for children attending school. Should a child have excessive lates or absences we are required to follow up with parents.
