Back to School Information

First Day of Classes 

Our first day of classes is Thursday, Sept. 1, 2022.  We will be returning to common entry and exit times but will continue to offer staggered lunchtimes (details are below).  Teachers will be connecting with you on their first day back August 29, 2022 to inform you that your child is in their class, and where the meeting spot will be.

The school office is open to parents on Aug, 29, 2022.  Please see hours below:

Summer Office hours:

  • August 29: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
  • August 30: 8:30 am - 3:00 pm
  • August 31: 8:30 am - 3:00 pm

School Start & End Times

Monday - Thursday 

Grades 1-6

Entry: 8:00 am  |  Dismissal: 2:30 pm

Recess: 20 minutes/day at teacher's discretion

 Lunch 1: 11:00 am – 11:30 pm  Lunch 2: 11:45 am – 12:15 pm     Lunch 3: 12:30 pm – 1:00 pm         

Kindergarten

  • AM class: 8:00 am – 10:49 am
  • PM class: 11:41 am – 2:30 pm

Fridays

Grade 1 – 6 

8:00 am – 11:50 am 

Kindergarten

  •  AM Kindergarten and PM Kindergarten will alternate attending school on Fridays from 8:00 am – 11:50 am. 

School Supply Lists  

All students are required to have a backpack and lunch bag (if applicable). Indoor shoes are brought to school the first day and left at school – preferably comfortable running shoes that the student can fasten on their own. Many backpacks and shoes look alike; please label all student items. All other supplies are purchased through the school with funds from the Student Supply Fee paid by parents of $40 for grades 1-6 and $20 for Kindergarten.

Assigned Teachers 

Welcoming messages will be sent via email by the classroom teacher to each family at the end of August.

Students will meet their teacher on the first day of school. All students are to meet at the designated location provided in the welcome message, such as the compound or field. Teachers will be there to greet students and bring them inside. 

Kindergarten 

Kindergarten classes begin on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2022 with students participating in ‘staggered entry’. Each student is assigned a staggered entry time and will come to school only for 50 minutes on Sept. 1, and 1 hour 20 minutes on Sept. 2.

​​​Do You Have a MyCBE Account? Have You Added Your Child(ren) To the Account?

Parents / Legal Guardians / Independent Students who have not already done so, must create a MyCBE account and add their child(ren) to the account to:

  • access your child’s program information (e.g., course assessments, daily attendance record, report card)
  • view your child’s learning using Brightspace by D2L
  • pay fees and request waivers
  • register for transportation and lunch ​supervision
  • book parent-teacher conferences
  • submit online school forms (required for 2022-23 school year)

You will need your email address on file at the school as well as your child’s CBE ID, which can be found on the:

  • SchoolEngage student profile, for families that registered their child using SchoolEngage.

​​Fees and Waivers

School fees will be charged to families starting in October. Online fee payment is the simplest and most convenient way to pay school fees. Parents can use their online account to pay fees or apply for a waiver at: www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe.

​​​​Yellow School Bus Tra​nsportation

Yellow school bus routes for the 2022-23 school year are created o​ver the summer and based on the addresses submitted before the pre-registration deadline in June. Transportation continues to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing stop with available space. Processing times could be up to six weeks at the beginning of the school year due to volume.

Your bus stop location and time will be available in your MyCBE account by mid-August.

Conditional riders can also register using MyCBE. Applications will be considered after eligible riders registrations have been processed.
