Our School

We would like to thank you for sending your children to us each and every day. It is our pleasure to greet and support students with their learning journey. We understand that each child has their own interests and strengths, and we strive to effectively personalize learning so children will leave school each day feeling happy, confident, and successful. At Belvedere Parkway, we are all part of a team to support each child to do their best and become positive citizens. Students, parents, teachers, support staff, the assistant principal and the principal all work together to set up learning opportunities and environments to help students grow and develop.

We appreciate your support and encouragement and welcome your feedback at any time. Please do not hesitate to contact our school. Our telephone number is 403-777-6010. Our teachers are also open to emails, and their contact information is available on Our Staff page.

Our Mission

Belvedere Parkway School is a complex, dynamic learning community where children and adults are valued, respected and challenged to be their best.

Our Vision

We are dedicated to educating the mind, body and spirit of each child. We stress acceptance of differences; we emphasize cooperation and concern for others; and we encourage a sense of commitment to the larger community. We strive to provide learning experiences which honor the unique worth of each individual and we place a strong emphasis on literacy and mastery of problem-solving skills. We encourage our students to develop enquiring minds. We make decisions together and we accept responsibility for the decisions that we make. We seek to develop in our students, a sense of our world as a global community and we teach them about our obligation to serve others. Through example, the adults in our school model the ideal of a caring, reflective community in which we work together in pursuit of the common good.

Our Motto

Together we can make a difference!

Our School Name

The original school was built back in the 1950's and named Parkway School because of the proximity to Bowness Park which, during that time, was a day's outing from the main city of Calgary.

A new building was added in 1963 and was named Belvedere. The name "Belvedere" is a combination of two French words, belle (beautiful) and vedere (view). The two schools were later combined by the addition of a library, an office area, and an auxiliary gym.

The two buildings then became one school, and it was decided to combine the two names with the result being Belvedere-Parkway.

Our School Development Plan

Our 2022-23 plan focuses on writing, number and also includes a well-being goal to promote conflict resolution and self-regulation in our students. Please see our School Development Plan.

Our School's Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation

We are committed to acknowledging and supporting the implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission 94 Calls to Action specific to education. Our school, along with all CBE schools, made a TRC Commitment to Action. On June 21, we renewed our commitment, which can be found under Resources.

Acknowledging the Land

We would like to acknowledge the traditional territories and oral practices of the Blackfoot Nations, which includes the Siksika, the Piikani and the Kainai. We also acknowledge the Tsuut’ina and Stoney Nakoda First Nations, the Métis Nation, and all people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta.

School Development Plan

Each year, our school prepares a development plan with input from teachers, school staff, students and parents. We review many sources of data, including report cards, provincial achievement test results and school surveys. Based on this information, we create our plan identifying targeted areas for growth. Our school development plan is not meant to represent all of the work that takes place in our school, but rather it focuses on specific areas for improvement.

School Improvement Results Report

Our school also prepares a results plan, which looks at our previous school year. It shows our students’ achievement and progress in meeting the goals and outcomes as set out by the CBE and Alberta Education, outlines some of the highlights of our school development plan and gives an overview of our school. You can look on the CBE website for system-wide results.
