Security

We are pleased to have a safe and secure place for our students to learn. Thank you for your support in maintaining a safe environment for our students!

Safe and Secure Building

Our building will be completely secured at 8:20AM, 10 minutes after the morning bell. After this time, students, parents and visitors must use the intercom for entry into the school. The intercom is located at our main entrance on the west side of the building. In the interest of security, students and staff are not permitted to open doors after 8:10 AM, please do not
ask them to do so.

Signing Students Out

Parents who are picking children up for any reason are required to sign them out in the main office. All entrants to the school must check in at the office when they arrive during school hours.

Visitors

To enter the building, please use the intercom system located at our main entrance at the west side of the building and come to the main office. Signing in will let us know who is in the building at all times during the school day.

Lockdowns

All CBE schools are required to practice lockdowns in the same way that we practice fire drills. The procedures for lockdowns are developed with the Calgary Police Service and are part of each school’s Emergency Response Plan. If you have questions about lockdown drills or lockdown procedures, please contact your principal.

Evacuation Procedures

In the event that the school needs to be evacuated for any reason, all staff have been trained according to CBE standards. All schools have a primary and a secondary evacuation site. In the event of an evacuation, you will receive an email, phone or SMS notification from the school.

Fire drills, external and internal lockdown practices are scheduled to ensure that students are trained and alerted to the evacuation process. Students must wear indoor shoes at all times so that they are always prepared for emergencies.
