Important Dates

We follow the CBE Traditional Calendar. The calendar sets common start and end days, non-instructional days and holidays. For our school’s additional non-instructional days, late entries, early dismissal days and events, see our school calendar page.

The Alberta Government announced on July 21 that schools will be in Scenario 1 as of Sept. 1, 2020.

The CBE's 2020-21 re-entry plan is subject to change as more information becomes available from the province. We will continue to update schools with more details during the next school year.

You can find the COVID Self-Assessment Tool (daily checklist) in the Government Resources section on the CBE website.

First Day of Classes

Our first day of classes for students is Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020. The office will be open to parents on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2020.

Kindergarten - September 1st, 2nd, & 3rd

Staggered Entry to School Year for Kindergarten:

We typically begin our school year by limiting the number of Kindergarten students entering the school over the first two to three days. The purpose of the plan is:

§  To ease the transition of students into school,

§  To spend time with smaller groups familiarizing them with our health measures,

§  To facilitate physical distancing while teaching the protocols of our health measures.

August 26th 2020

Dear Kindergarten Families,

Welcome to Kindergarten at Belvedere Parkway School, we are so very excited for Kindergarten to start! Kindergarten at BelPark is a wonderful place, and we look forward to providing a variety of active and exciting early childhood learning experiences that get students off on a positive path in learning.  Our goal is to develop the academic and social skills children need to become excellent lifelong learners, as well as developing a love of learning itself!

School begins on Tuesday, September 1st, 2020.  The first three days, September 1st, 2nd and 3rd will be a Staggered Entry where your child may attend in a smaller group.

AM Program: Tuesday September 1st: Half of the students will attend, Wednesday September 2nd the other half will attend, Thursday and Friday ALL students will attend.

Alternating Full Day program: Tuesday September 1st: Half of the students will attend, Wednesday September 2nd, NO students attend, Thursday September 3rd the other half of students will attend, Friday September 4th, all students will attend.

The school’s calendar and website has a list stating the Friday dates for AM and PM kindergarten classes. You will receive the calendar shortly.

Mrs. Diehl and Mrs. Shepherd will spend time with your child in small group to make sure that they are comfortable, happy, and having fun on their first day of Kindergarten! They will get a chance to get to know one another better, and their teachers will be learning all about what your child can do best!

For each Kindergarten school day, your child will need:

  • A backpack large enough to hold a large book from the library, spare masks, a small bottle of hand sanitizer and water bottle, both labelled, and a spare set of clothing
  • Indoor runners, to be kept at school (appropriate for activities in the gym), preferably Velcro fastened
  • A healthy snack - Please see website for suggestions

Being in a small group on the very first day of Kindergarten enables a more successful beginning for every child, by allowing students to feel more comfortable and at ease while adjusting to a new environment and friends.

Meet your child’s teacher outside the Kindergarten (South) doors near to the BelPark playground and ensure you are wearing your masks and observing social distancing from other families.

When it is time, give your child a big hug and say goodbye. It is important that students attend school on their own so that they get used to leaving caregivers and don’t feel anxious about it as we approach our regular school days with the full group of students.

Here are some things to practice with your child(ren) before Kindergarten begins:

  • washing hands, wearing masks, socially distancing and looking for floor markers in various environments that support them in this
  • opening their lunchbox and containers/packages independently
  • choosing healthy snacks
  • toileting tasks (including buttons, snaps, and zippers)
  • using Kleenex to blow or wipe their nose
  • putting on outside clothing independently (coats, shoes, etc.)
  • practice printing your first name
  • read and listen to stories with caregivers!
  • Being able to clearly say their first and last names

We look forward to a wonderfully exciting and rewarding school year working with you and your child!

Yellow School Bus Transportation

Yellow school bus routes for the 2020-21 school year are created over the summer and based on the addresses submitted before the pre-registration deadline in May. While CBE Transportation continues to accept pre-registrations, these will not be considered until route changes are done after Thanksgiving.

COVID-19 Changes

  • Riding the Bus Flowchart and Checklist
  • Only registered students have bus route and stop information provided through MyCBE / PowerSchool; this is to control the number of students accessing a bus in order to support maintaining healthy distances
  • Only registered students should use transportation services
  • Students are assigned to one stop based on their primary home address for general transportation; alternate stops will not be available
  • Students will be assigned a seat by the driver; students must adhere to the seating plan
  • Students must complete the AHS health assessment every morning before leaving for the bus stop. Students or family members with COVID-19 symptoms must stay home.
  • Masks are mandatory for students K-12, including on school buses
  • All service providers will follow Alberta Education and Alberta Health COVID-19 guidelines
Please visit our Covid-19 Frequently Asked Questions page, Transportation Section for more information.

More information about 2020-21 transportation service levels and proposed fees are posted on the CBE website.

Conditional riders can also register using MyCBE / PowerSchool. Applications will be considered after eligible riders registrations have been processed.
