Regular Program at the CBE

Even though most of our schools offer a regular program, no two are quite the same. All schools teach according to Alberta Education’s mandated curriculum, however a school’s focus, optional courses and school activities are as unique as every school.

Program, Focus & Approach

How You Support Your Child in Learning

  • Volunteer your time when you can to help student learning in the school. Learn more on our Volunteer page.
  • Get updates on what is happening in the school through our social media channels, which you can find on our Ways to Get Connected page.
  • Follow the teacher’s digital communication or blog on the Classes & Departments page to be aware of what your child is doing in their learning. This helps get beyond the classic “What did you do in school today…?” question.
  • Read to your child every night! Ask them questions about what they have heard. This will allow them to hear fluent reading as well as build deep levels of comprehension.
  • Take charge in creating enriching activities for you and your child. For example, take advantage of Bowness Park by going to walks and talking about the flow of the river or the different kinds of trees, note the changes that are seen in different seasons. Some screen time is okay, but nothing beats family time.
  • Encourage only the best from your child – we should insist upon quality work with time to reflect and improve on work, as well as time to make the needed improvements.
  • Make school a priority – it is hugely beneficial that children attend regularly and on time.
  • Involve yourself in our School Council and Parent Society (known as the Parent Fundraising Association).
