Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! I hope you have enjoyed a wonderful summer and that your child is looking forward to the return to school. Our staff looks forward to welcoming both familiar and new faces. We are especially excited to welcome our 40 new Kindergarten students! We are committed to providing a caring, personalized, and exceptional learning environment for your child. Our school's practice remains focussed on excellence in teaching and learning. We will be continuing the health and safety protocols established last year. This includes the wearing of masks, as outlined by CBE, and enhanced health and safety protocols. Families should use the Health Daily Checklist to determine if their child is well to attend school. At the start of the school year we will unfortunately not be able to have parents, volunteers, or guests inside our building. Please look for email updates from CBE to see how this progresses. Class lists will be posted outside the school office on Tuesday, August 31 at 12 noon. If your child would benefit from knowing who their teacher is prior to the first day of school, you are welcome to have a look. The first day of school is Wednesday, September 1. Teachers will meet students outside near our playground. We will have lots of staff available (all wearing yellow safety vests) to help your child meet their teacher. The school day starts at 9:00 am and teachers will lead their class inside the building. To help all students feel safe and secure, I ask that adults also wear a mask for drop-off and pick-up. Our Education Assistants will be available to help our youngest students transition to their classroom. We will take good care of them. Our Kindergarten teachers will also meet students and their families outside near the playground. Kindergarten students have a staggered entry on Wednesday and Thursday: Students with last names beginning with A-L should attend on Wednesday, and students with last names beginning with M-Z should attend on Thursday. We do this to ensure a calm and reassuring start to Kindergarten. Full Kindergarten classes begin on Friday, September 3.
