School Supplies

Students will be provided with this information by individual teachers. We suggest that students start school with at least a pen/pencil and a binder containing lined paper.

Lockers

Students will access the QR codes posted in the auxiliary gym during picture days or the student bulletin board by the main office to request a locker (they must take a picture with their smart phone to access the link). Lockers will be assigned in stages (possibly taking two to three weeks) and information letters will be distributed to first or second period teachers for these students. If there is an urgent need for a locker, please notify the school by emailing bowness@cbe.ab.ca.

School locks only must be used. Student-owned locks will be removed unless parents have contacted the school and there is a need for a special lock.

Phys Ed, Dance and Yoga locker information will be distributed to students by those teachers.

School Calendar

View our School Calendar for upcoming events and dates. See the CBE website for system calendars.

Cafeteria

Food Service typically does not start at the beginning of a new semester. Light lunch service will be available on Thursday, September 7 and there will be no FLEX service on this day. Menu information will be posted on our cafeteria webpage as it becomes available.

Transportation

Some of our students will use Calgary Transit to get to and from school. These buses typically pick students up from each bus stop in their designated route and then go directly to Bowness High School. In mid to late August, the Calgary Transit website will have the routes for our school. Click here for Calgary Transit Maps. These maps will be available in the main office when the school opens on August 22. Some of our students will be riding yellow buses and families will have been contacted by the Calgary Board of Education about routes and times times. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Busing will begin on Thursday, August 31 (check above under First Day of Classes for busing details on this day).

Parking

Go to our Parking & Drop-Off page for information about visitor parking. There is absolutely no student parking available on Bowness High School property for the 2023-2024 school year.  Students may park on the streets in our community. Be aware that there is some restricted parking on these streets so watch for posted signs and be mindful of our community residents. The Bowness High School parking lot will be monitored daily and parking tickets will be issued.

Parents and Guardians, please do not enter the parking lot to drop off and pick up your students. Make these arrangements with your student in advance and do not park in front of the school. This disrupts the bus services that safely take our students to and from school.

Registration Information

All registrations are completed on line. Please visit our How to Register page for all registration details. Please note that the registration process is completed online, but schools can assist with any questions.

Our school office opens on Monday, August 21 at 9:00 am for your questions or you can email bowness@cbe.ab.ca throughout the summer. Please note that the registration process is completed online, but schools can assist with any questions.
