June 29, 2023
Dear Braeside Families,
We hope that this last message finds you well! We can’t believe that another school year has come and gone!
Today we had gathered a whole-school community to have a “Hello Summer” assembly. During the assembly we Acknowledged the Land, sang O’Canada, said, “Goodbye” to some staff, read a story and had a dance party. We shared that the following staff members will be heading on to new adventures next year:
Mrs. Reck is officially retired
Ms. Beard is moving to teach grade 4, music and PE at Valley Creek School
Ms. Graham is heading to Sir Wilfrid Laurier to teach grade 9 math and PE
Mr. Bjartveit and Ms. den Ouden’s temporary contracts have ended and they are both looking to secure fulltime positions in the city
The last day of school is always filled with energy and excitement and staff and students enjoyed the assembly together.
Families are now able to view online student report cards until July 28, 2023. Report cards for the 2022-23 school year may be viewed, downloaded and/or printed.
Parents and Guardians can sign in to MyCBE to view student information, including report cards, comments from your child’s teacher, assignments and grades, and attendance information. For best access to information, log in to the MyCBE portal instead of using the PowerSchool App.
Please don’t forget that School Council is currently running a Mabel’s Label Fundraiser. Please check it out!! (https://braesidesecretary2.wixsite.com/braeside-school-coun). Our school was OVERFLOWING with Lost and Never Found items this year and using Mabel’s Labels is a great way to support your child being reunited with their coats, snowpants, hats, mitts, etc!
Please expect to hear who your child’s teacher will be next year by the end of the day on Tuesday August 29th. The message will include all information necessary for the first day of school on Thursday August 31st. If you don’t hear from a teacher by the end of the Tuesday, the 29th, please reach out to the office on Wednesday. Over the summer if your child moves or transfers schools, please email Ms. Blasken directly (jlblasken@cbe.ab.ca). Our office will officially open on Monday August 28th at 8:00 am.
We hope that everyone has the opportunity to rest, relax and enjoy some sunshine during the break and we look forward to welcoming students back in the new year.
Take care,
Fiona Johnson and Melanie Bennett
