Fun Events at Our School

Pancake Breakfast

Our annual pancake breakfast is typically held around mid-September and starts at 7:30 AM. This is an exciting community gathering to celebrate a new school year. All our school families are invited. Please come join us!

Terry Fox Run Fundraiser

Each September we celebrate Terry’s legacy with an assembly, followed by a school-wide run out in the field. Over the course of the month, students at Braeside collect donations for the Terry Fox Foundation. Last year, our kids proudly raised close to $250.

We Day

This is an annual event that celebrates youth making a difference in their local and global communities. This years' theme was using our imaginations to envision ways that we can make the world a better place for all of us. We thought about this by learning to change our thinking from “me” to include others and think about “we”. Students have an opportunity to hear from all sorts of celebrities and high profile speakers and get  inspired to take social action, empower others and transform lives including their own.

Remembrance Day

Each November, Braeside School hosts a Remembrance Day ceremony for students and their families. Poppies are made available for a small donation and students also collect food donations for the Veteran's Food Bank.

Gingerbread Night

For the past four years, Braeside has been hosting a gingerbread night in December. This is an opportunity to come to the school as a family, and build a gingerbread house together. This is a huge community building event for the school and we welcome your participation.

Pink Shirt Day

This is a day in February when we encourage all of our students to wear pink to symbolize that we are a community that practices kindness and acceptance towards both others and ourselves!

The idea of Pink Shirt Day started from two incredible Nova Scotia high school students in 2007 and is now celebrated worldwide. Through their campaign this year, we encourage everyone to “Make Nice”. We all have the capacity to be kind and compassionate, and their slogan acts as a friendly reminder that no matter what our differences, being nice is always a choice worth making.

Volunteer Tea

If it wasn’t for our volunteers, we would not be able to provide our students with many of the experiences that they have. Volunteer Tea is an event held in April and is a way our students show appreciation and celebrate our amazing volunteers.

Various Other Events

Our school also participates in various other annual and/or seasonal, sports and social events such as:

  • Calgary Flames "Student Night"
  • CBE Night with the Hitmen
  • CBE Night and Fundraiser with the Calgary Roughnecks
  • Grade 6 Farewell
  • "Braeside's Got Talent" talent show

For more detailed information on the above or other planned events, please contact the school office.

RT @UsihChristopher: Student health is more important than perfect attendance and families are the ultimate decision makers when it comes to whether students attend school or not. If your child will not be attending, please notify the school and the absence will be excused. Thank you!
