We take safety and security seriously. It is important that we maintain a safe and caring community so that learning can take place.
Visitors & Volunteers
Our school is a closed campus. All visitors and volunteers must report directly to the main office to sign-in and request permission from the school administration to be in the school. This process helps us know where you are in case of an emergency and allows staff and students to know you have signed-in with the office staff by wearing your volunteer/visitor badge.
In order to ensure school security, all exterior doors will be locked after school commences each day. Anyone who is not a student or school staff member is required to sign-in.
Before and After School Supervision
Supervision is provided only for those students working directly with a teacher or coach outside school hours. Students may arrive at school earlier than class time and may wait quietly in the hallways until the start of class time, or work in the Learning Centre or Library, provided they are well behaved. There is no specific direct supervision of students in the halls until 9:00. After school, students who are socializing will be asked to clear the building and surrounding area by a reasonable time. Front doors are open at 8:00 for students; students should not be in the building after dismissal (4:10 pm) unless they are working with a teacher or coach.
Messages for Students
The office staff finds it difficult to pass on numerous phone messages left for students. Parents can help us by making arrangements with their son/daughter before school. In an emergency, office staff will endeavour to pass on messages to students. We will not contact students in classrooms or during class time unless there is a real and serious emergency. (Reminders or routine messages are not considered an emergency.)
Student Searches
In the event that school safety and security is a concern administration has the right to complete searches of student lockers, student property or personal belongings at any time.
