Assessment & Reporting

Student Progress Reports

There are two formal reporting periods and three conference times throughout the year. There is a Meet the Teacher in September that enables parents and teachers to share information that will facilitate the development of an appropriate program for your child. This is followed by a parent/teacher conference in November and a student-led conference in March. Written report cards will be issued in a digital format through your child’s MyCBE account for children in grades K to 6 in February and June outlining your child’s progress. Parents are encouraged to maintain on-going communication with teachers regarding their child’s progress and not wait for a scheduled interview time if there is a question or a concern.

Second Language Interpreters

If you would benefit from an interpreter, please contact the school and we will arrange for an interpreter through the Calgary Board of Education.

Appeals of Assigned Grades

If you have concerns about a grade that has been assigned you should first discuss the assigned grade with the classroom teacher. If the issue remains unresolved, please direct your concern to the Principal in writing and a meeting will be arranged amongst all concerned stakeholders. One morning will be designated near the end of each school year to allow for appeals that arise from the final report card.

Assessment and Reporting at the CBE

We know it is important for parents/guardians to understand how their children are doing in school. Research shows that students are more successful with active parent/guardian involvement.

The report card is one component in communicating student learning. In addition to the report card, schools communicate with parents/guardians about student progress on an ongoing basis in a variety of ways.

Assessment happens every day, in every classroom, throughout the school year. Assessing a student’s progress is one of the most important ways we support the continued learning of our students.

We have developed some resources related to assessment and report cards, and to help you learn more about your child's learning. As more resources are developed, you will find them here.

Digital report cards are available through MyCBE. For help with accessing student assessment and reporting information, please refer to the information in the MyCBE Technical Support for Students & Parents Support website.
