​One of the most important ways parents/guardians and community members can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on the school council. Under the Education Act, a school council is a collective association designed to advise the principal and the CBE Board of Trustees on matters related to the school. School councils have legislated advisory. They are different from Parent Societies & Associations, whose main function is to raise funds for the school.​​ You can find more details in the CBE School Council Handbook​.​

School Council

Each year we require parent volunteers for our School Council. School Council allows us to participate (a part of our School Council is called Briar Hill School Foundation and this allows us to operate as a Not-for-Profit entity) in casinos, which in turn provides us with funding that helps to support your children with technology in the classroom, laptops, iPads, literacy kits, in-school residencies such as in-line skating, Quest Theatre and many more activities/resources that without the Briar Hill Foundation (and your volunteer work) we would not be able to provide.

Meeting Dates/Schedule

School Council meetings will bel held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, from 7:00 p.m - 8:30 p.m. Due to Covid-19 restrictions these meetings are now conducted online via Microsoft Teams.
