The CBE has in place important security policies schools must follow. For the safety of the students and staff at Buffalo Rubbing Stone School, all doors will be locked during school hours starting at 8:10 AM.
To enter during school hours, there is a buzzer at the front door which will connect you to the office and they will unlock the door for you.
Volunteers and Visitors
Any volunteers and all visitors to the school must report to the main office and sign in. Volunteers and visitors will be given a tag to wear that must be visible while in the school.
School Safety Plan
All schools within the Calgary Board of Education are required to have protocols in place in the event of an emergency. It is expected that schools regularly hold fire drills, practice emergency evacuations and lockdowns so that staff and students will be prepared to respond appropriately during a crisis.
In the event of an actual emergency, it is essential that staff and students respond immediately in an orderly fashion and with knowledge about how and where to go. When an evacuation is necessary due to severe weather conditions, utility disruption, fire or civil disturbance, a telephone fan-out system for contacting each parent will be implemented. Students whose parents cannot be reached will be supervised by school personnel until an emergency contact person can be located to pick them up to take them home.
