Principal's Message

June 2023

Good afternoon Buffalo Rubbing Stone families,
Every year, when we come to the end of June, I wonder where the year has gone.  Then I look at photos of the first day of school and I immediately notice how much our students have grown or I look at the change in the learning posted on our walls and I know that wherever the time went, it was time well spent!
Our learning accomplishments have been substantial.  Recently, teachers revisited the goals of our School Development Plan and highlighted the growth in student writing, math problem solving, confidence, and perseverance.  We leveraged the strength of our outdoor environment, participating in Eco-Schools.  Our beautiful spring weather gave us the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of learning on the land during Indigenous Peoples Month.
Yesterday, we had the opportunity to bid farewell to our grade five students in our closing assembly.  We are very proud of all our students' accomplishments and we are confident that what they have learned at BRS will serve them well wherever they go.  We know their school accomplishments are not theirs alone but the culmination of learning they have done with peers and family.  The Buffalo Rubbing Stone learning community includes us all: students, staff, parents, grandparents, and everyone who plays a part in BRS being a wonderful place to learn and grow.
Thank you to everyone for a wonderful year!
We look forward to seeing our returning students on Thursday, August 31.  As always, learning begins at 8:00 am.  Please anticipate an email from your child's new teacher around 3:00 pm on Wednesday, August 30 with details about the first day of school.
Have a great summer!!
