Learning Commons at the CBE

Today’s learners cannot imagine life without the internet and supporting technology. The concept of the traditional library is changing to include technology, online tools and spaces for collaboration and exploration.

Learning Commons / Library

As part of Scenario 1 Re-entry, using our book collection looks a little different.

Whether you are a student in the classroom or learning in the hub from home, we encourage you to borrow and read books from our library collection.  The videos links below will guide you in how to access, sign in, and search in the eLibrary.

Tips and Tutorial for accessing, navigating and logging in to eLibrary:

Accessing eLibrary - https://www.screencast.com/t/OzIFwlg4Pbm

Navigating eLibrary - https://www.screencast.com/t/7gAJ7LGmg

eLibrary Quick search - https://www.screencast.com/t/cDVAuQ25mQ

Log into eLibrary and view My Account - https://www.screencast.com/t/1OS4RL2NC

Sign into your library account with your CBE ID# and password.  Once logged into your account, you can check for items that are checked out and/or overdue.

TIP:  When you are signed into your account, you are looking at the Buffalo Rubbing Stone School Library Collection and it will indicate [HERE} in your library search.  If you do not sign in, you will be looking at the entire collection of the Calgary Board of Education.

Keep the eLibrary window open while you are filling out the Book Request Form in another window.

To place a book request while in eLibrary choose: Using eLibrary from the blue Menu Bar, and choose the last option in light blue print Library Book Requests.  The online request form will open and you are able to fill it out and submit it directly to the Library Desk.  If the search says "not on shelf," please choose a different book.

Can I save my searches?

You can create your own lists to save titles for future use and to save time searching next time you visit CBE eLibrary.  There are two little boxes that you can click on above the picture of the book/item (far left screen).  Click ‘Keep’ or ‘+My Lists’ and you can see your list of saved searches in the Tab ‘Permanent Lists’ on the Subject Bar under the Menu Bar.

If you are having difficulties with the online book request form or have inquiries or questions, email Buffalo Rubbing Stone Library/Learning Commons at Library-117@cbe.ab.ca
