Attendance Line: 403-777-6150 ext. 1
If your child will be absent or late, please call our attendance line before school begins. After reaching the school press 1, and leave your message on the Attendance Line. This will help us to ensure that all Cambrian Heights students are safe and accounted for in a timely manner.
Please let us know:
- Your child’s first and last name (spelling the last name)
- Mention the grade
- Reason for, and length of the absence
- Whether or not they use the school bus
Absences
Every child is expected to be in school on all designated school days by the CBE, unless illness or personal reasons make attendance impossible. Parents/guardians must phone and leave a message on the attendance line before the start of the day, if your child is going to be absent for any reason. For security purposes, if you do not contact the office to report an absence you will be contacted by the school.
We appreciate your communication as it helps to keep all our students safe and eliminates the need for us to call you. If a parent/guardian cannot be reached regarding a child’s absence, then the emergency contact person on your demographics form will be contacted.
Lates
Punctuality is expected and an important life skill. The warning bell goes five minutes before classes begin, and we ask that you try to arrive on time for that bell. Being late has a significant impact on the late student’s learning (they miss instruction and educational activities, our office staff (they must change absences to a late on the record and issue late slips), teacher time (they have to re-teach), and classmates (their learning time is interrupted).
A letter will be sent home with and placed in the file of students who are habitually late. Parents are expected to have plans in place for ensuring their child is at school on time.
