Personal Belongings

Please put your child's name on all personal belongings.  If your child loses something at school but it has a name on it, we can easily return the item. You can purchase labels through Mabel's Labels, one of school council's fundraisers. The proceeds fund special projects and initiatives.

Lost and found Items are put in bins located at student entry doors. Money, jewelry, glasses, etc. should be turned in to the office. Students should check the Lost and Found frequently. Unclaimed items are sent to charity throughout the year. Valuables should be left at home. The school does not accept responsibility for loss or damage to personal property.

Backpacks

Provide your child with a backpack large enough to hold all of their school supplies, lunches, etc. Backpacks are kept in classrooms, on hooks, or in lockers.

Indoor / Outdoor Footwear

A pair of running shoes with non-marking soles is required for in-school wear and physical education classes. Outdoor footwear is not acceptable inside the school. Students should wear shoes and socks while in the building for three important reasons:

  1. Emergency evacuation practices are held regularly. Students are not permitted to stop and put on shoes.
  2. A child’s foot is vulnerable to injury in a public building.
  3. Health and sanitation in a public building is maintained through use of footwear.

Toys, Games and Personal Electronics

We recommend that smart watches, cell phones, toys, cards, iPads, etc., be left at home. However, we recognize that some students have long bus rides and use devices and other items to provide entertainment to and from school. Content on these devices should be age appropriate. These items must remain in backpacks during school hours.

Bikes, Scooters, Skateboards and Heelies

We expect students riding bikes to wear helmets. Scooters, skateboards and heelies are not allowed on CBE property.

Use of Cell Phones

The school strongly recommends that students not bring cell phones to school.  However, if a student needs to have a cell phone at school, the cell phone must:

  • be clearly labeled with the child’s name.
  • be turned off during school hours.
  • remain in their backpack.

The school does not accept responsibility for lost or stolen cell phones.
