​​​Parent-teacher conferences are an opportunity to engage in conversation about your child’s learning. Parents/guardians and teachers are able to connect face-to-face and communicate openly about student learning, especially with respect to areas of strength and areas of growth. They help build and sustain respectful relationships that allow both parties to share information and develop strategies to support student success.​​​

Parent, Student & Teacher Conferences 

During this meeting you will talk about questions such as:

  • How is your child progressing and achieving in relation to the Alberta Programs of Study?
  • What are your child’s next learning and social/emotional goals?
  • What strategies are in place to help your child(ren) succeed?
  • How does your child learn best and show what he/she knows?
  • How does your child advocate for his/her strengths and learning needs? 

Student-Led Conferences

The Celebrations of Learning are designed to provide students with opportunities to share their learning with our families so that parents better understand the work they are engaged in during classes and can see a variety of evidence of student learning.

You will have a chance to meet the teacher and may ask questions such as:

  • What gains has your child made over the past months?
  • What gains have been made on the parent’s goals? The student’s goals?
  • What are the best next steps for your child and how will the child be supported?
  • How has your teacher-parent communication plan been working?

​How to Book a School Conference

  1. Log-in to MyCBE​.

    If you do not have an account, follow the Create a MyCBE Account​ instructions.

  2. Click on the My School Conferences icon.

  3. Click on the time slot that is available and convenient for you. Ensure pop-up windows are allowed.

  4. In the pop-up window, you will choose your child (you have the option to enter the student's name), the name of the parent / guardian is pre-filled, but can also be changed.​​​​

​​​Create a MyCBE Account

  1. Go to www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe and click on the “Create Parent Account” link.

    Important: the email that you are using to create your account must be the same one you have provided to the school. If you are unsure, please contact the school office.

  2. Once you have created an account, you will receive a confirmation email. 

  3. After your account is confirmed, you can login to the system.​
