The CBE's Approach to Community Engagement

Dialogue is the Calgary Board of Education’s approach to community engagement. It is a mutually respectful exchange of ideas that acknowledges and celebrates the diversity within the CBE community. It represents our ongoing commitment to involve people in decisions that affect them.

We know we make better decisions when we listen and work together to solve problems and find solutions. When we do, our students are better equipped to become successful citizens who contribute their ideas, passion and energy to society.

There can be no dialogue without you. Find out more about Dialogue as well as current and past system engagement initiatives on the CBE’s website.

Budget and Fees: An Opportunity to Learn and Share

We know we make better decisions to support student learning when we build understanding and work together. That’s why we’ll be sharing budget and fees information with you and asking for you to share your perspectives with us.

During this online engagement, you will have the opportunity to:

Learn

  • Where funding for the CBE comes from and how it is spent
  • About the Resource Allocation Method (RAM) used to fund schools
  • How we estimate, then finalize, RAM for our school
  • How we establish school fees for some activities and services

Participate

Thank you to those who attended our school council meeting on Wednesday April 21, 2021 to learn more about our budget and fees and to fill out the attached survey. For families who were unable to attend the School Council meeting, we hope you are able to click on this link and participate in the Budget and Fees Engagement.
